Shotcrete/Gunite Pools
Shotcrete (also called gunite) is the gold standard for custom inground pools. Unlike vinyl liner or fiberglass, shotcrete is sprayed pneumatically around a steel rebar cage, creating a single-piece concrete shell with unlimited design flexibility. Curves, beach entries, tanning ledges, vanishing edges, infinity edges — if you can dream it, we can build it.
At Blue Tide Exteriors, we've been building shotcrete pools in North Louisiana since 2018. Our Residential Swimming Pool License (#00138) and Commercial Swimming Pool License (#74493) mean every pool is built to state code, inspected at each phase, and backed by our lifetime workmanship warranty. We handle everything in-house — excavation, steel, plumbing, shotcrete application, tile, coping, plaster, and decking — so there's no finger-pointing between subcontractors.
A shotcrete pool is the foundation of a true backyard resort. Once the shell is in place, we layer on the outdoor kitchen, fire pit, pergola, and screen enclosure to create a cohesive design that transforms your property. Planning & Estimate
1-2 weeks
Based on client. Can be done in 1 day if you pick everything at the design consultation — plaster colors, tile, water features, fire features. Most people take a few days to finalize selections. Then 1-2 days for quotes and 1-4 days for 3D rendering.
Pre-Construction
1-3 weeks
Site plan finalized, architectural plans drawn, 3D rendering approved. Engineering calculations completed for your soil and structural requirements.
Permitting
1-5 weeks
Permit processing with your parish health department and building officials. We handle all submissions and coordination.
Timeline depends on the parish permit office — some are fast, some have backlogs.
Week 1
3-4 working days
Day 1: Excavation. Day 2: Steel rebar installation. Day 3: Plumbing rough-in. Day 4: Shotcrete application and equipment pad set.
Equipment is set on the pad during Week 1 so it's ready for startup later.
Weeks 2-4
Curing (no pool work)
Shotcrete must cure for a full 28-30 days to reach maximum strength. Nothing happens to your pool during this period — the concrete is gaining strength.
If we're building other structures (patio, outdoor kitchen, pergola, screen enclosure), that work can happen during this window.
Week 5
3-5 working days
Tile and coping installation. Pool deck poured and finished. Final grading. Grass and landscape installed if included in your project.
Week 6
2 working days
Plaster or pebble interior applied. Pool filled with water. Equipment startup, chemical balancing, and pool school.
By end of Week 6 you are 100% swim-ready.
